Where to find your statement.

Lagom reads the file your bank makes for Quicken or QuickBooks. Every bank has it; most hide it a little. Here is where it usually is, and what not to download instead.

On your bank’s website, not the phone app

Sign in on a computer, open one account, and look for Statements, Documents, Download transactions or Export. Most phone apps offer only PDF.

Pick the Quicken or QuickBooks file

The format menu will offer a few. Choose Quicken (QFX) or QuickBooks (QBO); both are the same file inside. Some banks call it Microsoft Money (OFX), Download to software, Web Connect or Direct Connect. The file you save ends in .qfx, .qbo or .ofx.

Choose a range

The last one to three months is a good first statement. Bring more later; a statement that overlaps one you already brought lands once, never twice.

One file per account

Chequing, each credit card, a line of credit: download one file for each, then drop them on Lagom together. It reads which account each file belongs to.

Not these

  • PDF. A picture of a statement. Lagom cannot read the lines.
  • CSV. A spreadsheet of a statement. Every bank lays it out differently, and it carries no balance and no mark on each line, so nothing could tell a second download from a double charge.

Why this file

The bank’s own record names the account, states the balance as of a moment, and marks every line. That is why a statement brought twice lands once, why your balances need no retyping, and why there is nothing to reconcile. What Lagom does with it, step by step →

Can’t find it?

Write to hello@lagom.money with your bank’s name and we’ll point you to it. No screenshots of your statement needed.

Found it? Drop it in.
